Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement and Events

This position is part of a growing team that plans and executes unique virtual and in-person programming, meaningful volunteer opportunities, and timely, creative communication to engage St. Olaf alumni and parents.



What You’ll Do:

• Lead the planning and execution of Reunion – a three-day on-campus event with 2,000+ attendees – including hospitality, logistics, staffing, catering, facilities, rental services, and collaboration with campus partners.

• Lead the alumni volunteer program for Reunion by creating print and digital resources, recruiting and organizing class committees, planning and hosting training events, and coordinating the work of other St. Olaf volunteer managers.

• Support event planning for the Advancement Division, including on and off-campus activities that engage alumni with current St. Olaf students, and events for St. Olaf parents, such as Homecoming & Family Weekend and Move-In Weekend.

• Analyze and report on event outcomes and make strategic recommendations for improvements.

• Act as a liaison to the St. Olaf Events Office, identifying opportunities for collaboration and creating efficiencies.


Who You Are:

You’ll be a great fit if you have:


• Organized successful events with 250 or more participants, such as weddings, charity galas, or benefit concerts

• Analyzed events using both qualitative and quantitative methods

• Recruited and managed volunteers at your church, mosque, synagogue, temple, student organization, community organization or in a work environment

• Motivated volunteer teams to reach their goals

• Communicated effectively with people of all different backgrounds, ages, incomes


Your experience and education look like:

• Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience; Bachelor’s degree a plus
• 3+ years working with volunteers, event organizing, and communicating with constituents, or relevant experience
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record
